Donald Henk, Corporate Director of Retail, General Manager

Don Henk currently serves as Cape Leisure Corporation’s Corporate Director of Retail. In this role, Henk provides Cape Leisure with strategic direction and expertise in retail buying, merchandising, point of sale systems, inventory management and reporting, and staff training.

Prior to his full time appointment in this role, Henk was retail director and later, general manager at Natural Bridge of Virginia. Here, Henk managed all day to day operations of the Natural Bridge stone arch attraction and the Natural Bridge Caverns, including retail, food, ticketing, interpretive, cash control, janitorial services, training and staffing. In his tenure at Natural Bridge, Henk managed the implementation of a new ticketing, food and retail point of sale system, introduced new cash control policies, and improved per capita retail sales spending in both the Natural Bridge Gift Shop and the Natural Bridge Caverns Gift Shop.

From 2003 to early 2009, Henk was director of retail and later, general manager, for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts’ food and retail concessions operations at Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls, NY. Here he ensured the effective and efficient management of the unit, including four retail outlets, ten quick service food outlets, a full service restaurant, and catered events.

Don’s 20 years in the hospitality industry began at Dorney Park & Wild Water Kingdom in Allentown, PA, where he was a manager in the games department, followed by stints at Putt-Putt Golf and Games, a family entertainment center in Cheekowaga, NY, and Successories, an awards and motivational awards store chain. At Successories he was district manager, recruiting, training, and developing store managers for eleven retail stores. His responsibilities included auditing store inventory and financial documents to ensure compliance with company operations, reviewing store financial reports and performing monthly store visits and manager reviews. Don also spent time in Hong Kong as consultant for the Expo Souvenirs & Gifts there in 1993.

Don earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1994.
